The Farmstead Inn is proud to be an official site on the 2010 Quilt Gardens Tour SM the first and only one of its kind in the nation. The tour features 17 juried, large-scale quilt patterned gardens and 17 artist-rendered outdoor murals displayed throughout Northern Indiana’s Amish Country. The project pairs the communities of Bristol, Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, Nappanee, Shipshewana and Wakarusa with their shared history, heritage and pride in hand craftsmanship. The exclusive gardens and murals will be viewable free of charge from Memorial Day until October 1. Maps and tour details are available at QuiltGardensTour.com.
2010 Blazing Star Quilt at the Farmstead Inn
The inspiration for our garden design came from the Shipshewana Blessings Quilt, a quilt commissioned by the town to hang in the Wolfe Building, portraying two cultures that have made their home in Shipshewana, the Potawatomi and the Amish.
Right across the covered bridge at the Farmstead Inn will be another beautiful quilt garden, in front of Menno-Hof.
Pack your bags, and don't forget your camera! You'll want to plan on spending a couple of days with us touring the beautiful Amish Country-side, decorated with a colorful patchwork of quilted gardens!
